This study focused on Zhangjiakou City, a key water conservation area in the capital region and an ecological barrier in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. By integrating the Patch-generating Land Use Simulation (PLUS) model and the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model, we quantified land-use changes and the trade-offs/synergies among four ecosystem services (windbreak and sand fixation, food production, soil conservation and water conservation), under different development scenarios from 2000 to 2020 and for the 2030 projection. Based on the trade-off/synergy perspective, we identified the optimal development scenario for Zhangjiakou City. The results indicated that: 1) From 2000 to 2020, the area of forestland in Zhangjiakou City expanded by 40.63%, while cultivated land, grassland, and water bodies declined significantly, intensifying spatial conflicts among ecosystem services, with trade-offs becoming dominant. 2) Four development scenarios, including natural development, cultivated land protection, ecological protection, and comprehensive development, were simulated. The multi-scenario simulations showed that ecosystem services generally exhibited an improving trend across all scenarios. However, conflicts between food production services and ecological regulation services remained prominent. The ecological protection scenario enhanced the synergy between windbreak and sand fixation and water conservation services. The comprehensive development scenario improved the synergy between food production and various ecological regulation services. 3) The comprehensive development scenario, which balanced the coordinated economic development, cultivated land protection and ecological protection, was identified as the optimal scenario for Zhangjiakou City. Future efforts should focus on strengthening comprehensive development planning in Zhangjiakou City to achieve sustainable regional development.

Acta Scientiarum Naturalium Universitatis Pekinensis    2018, 54 (2): 229-235.   DOI: 10.13209/j.0479-8023.2017.148

In order to fuse word-level and sentence-level information from different semantic spaces, the authors propose a hybrid optimization framework to optimize word-level information while simultaneously incorporate sentence-level information as constraints. The optimization is conducted by iterative unit substitutions. The performance on DUC benchmark datasets demonstrates the effectiveness of proposed framework in terms of ROUGE evaluation.

Acta Scientiarum Naturalium Universitatis Pekinensis    2016, 52 (2): 265-273.   DOI: 10.13209/j.0479-8023.2015.113

A qualitative method is presented for geographic information retrieval (GIR) to support qualitative representation, semantic matching, reasoning and ranking. The novel approach can avoid semantic information lost in current quantitative GIR methods. Information in documents and user queries are represented by propositional logic, which considers the thematic and geographic semantics synthetically. The similarity between documents and queries can be divided into thematic similarity and geographic similarity. The former is calculated by the weighted distance of proposition keywords in domain ontology, and the latter is further divided into conceptual similarity and location similarity which are measured by geo-ontology and spatial semantic respectively. Represented by propositions and information units, the similarity measurement takes evidence theory and fuzzy logic to obtain a general similarity from all sub similarities. This novel method retrieves qualitative geographic information from web and ranks documents semantically, which is consistent with commonsense, and thus can improve the efficiency of geographic information retrieval technology.

The authors present a new approach for modeling qualitative geographic information retrieval based on the qualitative representation, semantic matching and qualitative reasoning methods. Information in web document and user queries are represented and extracted by a new qualitative method considering the thematic and geographic semantics synthetically. The novel retrieval method is used to retrieve the qualitative geographic information to support the semantic matching and results ranking. Finally, a prototype system is implemented to evaluate this research. Through these works, the geographic information retrieval technology is much adaptive to human commonsense cognition and behaviors. The efficiency of geographic information retrieval is improved with the qualitative representation and qualitative spatial reasoning method.

At present, the calculation of the Modern Catchment Geomorphic Evolution (MCGE) issues is mainly solved by systems' integration, which results in function redundancy, lower efficiency and more difficult modification. The method to resolve the MCGE issues based on WebService is proposed. The design of the Modern Catchment Geomorphic Evolution Model Service(MCGEMS), and integration between MCGEMS and WCS are given. Within .NET interface, the MCGEMS and integration with WCS are implemented respectively. This method resolves the problems resulting from systems integration, improves the MCGEM reuse capability and simplifies the procedure of integration.
