Abstract: This research provides an analysis of the integrated mechanism of the emergence and expansion of the different types of desert lands, and compares this mechanism with the theory of Ecotone. The paper discusses the relationship between ecological fragility and desertification. It concludes that with the environmental vulnerabilities, ecotone lands are easily desertified under the adverse human exploitation. Because exploitation of the Ecotone lands makes the environment more vulnerable, human should act to use the lands in a way compatible with the environment. The control of desertification is also discussed.
