    The effects of NaBr loading, reaction temperature and contact time on the catalytic behaviors of NaBr-promoted KZSM-5 zeolite for the oxidative methylation of toluene (OMT) were investigated systematically. It was found that the KZSM-5 zeolite catalyst promoted with proper NaBr loading was a very effective catalyst for the OMT. The optimum conditions for the OMT were found. The structure of catalysts have been characterized by XRD and framework IR. It was found that KZSM-5 zeolite exhibited excellent catalytic activity for the OMT and heat stability.

    Benzoate is used as food preservative widely.The interaction of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with benzoate in vitro was studied by ultraviolet (UV) absorption spectral, fluorescence spectral, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectral methods. With the addition of benzoate, the UV absorption peak of BSA at 210nm decreased gradually and moved to longer wavelengths. FT-IR measurement indicated the decrease of the percentage of α-helix of BSA. The fluorescence of tryptoph an residue in BSA was quenched by benzoate. The experimental results showed that benzoate caused the change of conformation of BSA and 10mg benzoate in 1mg BSA damaged BSA.

    Authors have used elevenL-amino acid eaters and L-, D-α-methylbenzyl amine as chiral auxiliaries to react with racimic ketorolac. Then authors got optical amides. The diastereoisomeric mixture were separated by column-chroatography on silica gel. The results of separation depend on the structure of R1 and R2 on the chiral auxiliaries.

    In order to find replacer for Metronidazole and drug selection. Some diesters or esters of acids containing nitrogen with Metronidazole were designed and synthesized, which have difference in water-solubility. Metronidazole was reacted with the corresponding amino or imino multi-carboxylic acid compounds in the presence of acetic anhydride or thionyl chloride or DCC. The intermediate of nitrilotriacetic acid with Ac2O was identified by Mass Spectrum. Out of three diesters two are novel.

    3-butyryl-8-methoxy-4-(2-ethylphenylamino) quinoline(SK&F 96067) has been used as an H+-K+ ATPase inhibitor. It is insoluble in water. The formation of the inclusion complex between drug SK&F 96067 and β-CD was studied by UV absorption, fluorescence and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. In the aqueous environment a clear isosestic point was observed in the absorption spectra. The fluorescence intensity of SK&F 96067 increased as the concentration of β-CD increased. Continuous variation plot by fluorescence study suggested that 1∶1(guest∶host) stoichiometric complex was formed in the solution. The spectral analysis of 1H-NMR measurement showed that the signals of the quinoline protons of SK&F 96067 were shifted downfield, resulting from the interaction of β-CD with quinoline ring of SK&F 96067.

    The soy white flake is extracted by different alcohol-water system, at different temperature, for various time. The effects of these factors on the extraction of soy isoflavone and the denaturalization of soy protein are studied. 80% alcohol, 40℃,1 hour is a favorite extraction condition to get the high yield of soy isoflavone as well as to avoid the denaturalization of protein during the extraction.

    The measurement was made in July and November 2000 in Guangzhou. The measurement species included SO42-,NO3-,NO2-,Cl- of aerosol and related gases. The hourly variation of the concentration was presented. It showed that NO3-,NO2-,Cl- of aerosol and HCl, HNO2,HNO3 of gas varied with regularity. The variation of gas SO2 and aerosol SO42- depended on the emission of SO2. The ratio of Sa/St was much higher in November than July.

    Via suspension culture and 0.5 μmol/L RA induction, we established an in vitro system to differentiate ES cells directly into neuron-like cells. In this system, neuron-like cells first appeared within 48h after the embryoid bodies were plated, and were most abundant 4-6 days after plating, while decreased 8-10 days later. Neuron-like cells differentiated from ES cells had typical morphologic properties, and specifically reacted with NF antibodies.

    Metallothionein-3(MT-3), previously named as growth inhibitory factor, is the unique member of the metallothionein family that demonstrates bioactivity in vitro. To test if MT-3 dimerizes or polymerizes itself in vivo, the yeast two-hybrid system was established. In yeast two-hybrid system, MT-3 interacts with MT-3. A further two-hybrid test also indicated that MT-3 weakly interacted with its isoform MT-1. These primary results suggest that MT-3 probably trend to homodimerize or heterodimerize in vivo.

    When pea (Pisum sativumL., Alaska strain) was grown in short-day conditions, the apical bud senescence started with the transformation of the bud from vegetative to reproductive growth. DNA fragmentation was detected during the senescence using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end in situ labeling (TUNEL) method. The cell ultrastructural changes were similar to apoptosis in animal cells: the apical meristemetic cells underwent the programmed cell death (PCD). This was first detected in the apex cells of apical meristem, while peripheral cells differentiated gradually into different parts of a floral bud. But all the cells in the floral bud were subjected to the PCD process before it developed into a complete flower. 140bp DNA fragment was found to deposit in apical bud during the plant development. The most important role of Caspase-8 was detected by Western blot, and the expression of the procaspase-8 was time-related with the DNA frgmentation and the transformation from vegetative to the reproductive growth. These results suggested that PCD was an active process during the differentiation of apical meristem, and the senescence observed in the apical bud was due to the PCD process.

    HLA-G1, which is a newly defined non-classical HLA class I molecule, plays an important role in mediating immunotolerance and protecting embryo and even some kinds of tumors from NK cells attacking. The full-length coding sequences containing cDNA of HLA-G1 were cloned from placenta, monocytes and liver cancer tissue of Chinese donors. Sequence analysis reveals that it is a highly conserved human gene with only two amino acid mutation sites compared to foreign nationality. Its truncated form was overexpressed in E.Coli and the recombinant proteins were purified with affinity chromatography. We predict its possible three-dimensional structure and interaction with specific receptor KIR2DL4 by knowledge-based computer modeling.

    Well preserved blood vessels and resemble blood corpuscles have been observed in the bone tissue of a therizinosauroid dinosaur from the lower part of the Yixian Formation(Early Cretaceous)in Liaoning Province, northeast China. The fossil therizinosauroid dinosaur is consisting of a section of vertebral column, and fragmentary limb bones. Brownish filamentous integumentary impression occurred around the limb bones. The integumentary filaments are unbranched, about 0.1mm wide and 50~60mm long. At a longitudinal section of the dinosaur's humerus bone, brownish blood vessels have been observed under the microscope. Some blood vessels contained brownish small rounded bodies; they often scattered or gathered along the blood vessels. The occurrence, shape and size of the small bodies indicate that they are possibly remains of the dinosaur's blood cells. The vascularity of the bone tissue, have been measured by using image analysis method, the relatively high vascularity of the bone tissue indicates a relatively high metabolic rate of this dinosaur. The histological features of the bone tissue and the filamentous integuments that possibly served as body heating insulation, demonstrate that the animal might be endothermal.

    Prehistoric cataclysms and their impacts on human paleo-culture have been a focus of the scientists in the world. Some ancient trees relatively undamaged back, roots and branches were unearthed from paleochannel in the Peking University campus. The burying position, the characteristics and the age of the trees indicate that the flowage of ancient Yongding River resulted in the event at about 5000a B P. The trees, together with the Neolithic culture relic unearthed at the same time, show that the disastrous floods definitely occurred at about 5000a B P in Peking area.

    Being sustainable both on spatial and temporal dimensions, sustainable land use system is a typically complicated system composed by natural, social and economical components, which has special attributes of systematic complication, structural openness, spatio-temporal dynamics and multi-objects. Driving Force-State-Response analysis method is useful to probe into multi-act and dynamics of its components. Sustainability assessment is the core to sustainable land use study. In this paper, the authors apply Driving Force-State-Response analysis method to construct assessing indicator system, which can be classified into status quo and response indicators, composed by natural, social, economical and technical aspects. Then the authors design assessing process on sustainable land use. At last, the indicator system and process are applied in Tangshan Region from 1991 to 1999. The results show that the general sustainable degree of land use in the study case has been rising, which is resulted from great economic growth and natural cost.

    Stability of rock slopes is generally controlled by the structure of rock masses, especially the soft structure surfaces. Analysis of rock mass structures is a key to establish geological models and numerical simulation and a foundation to assess the stability of rock slopes. The weak structure surfaces are mainly bedding planes, faults, joints, schistosity plane and contact zones of intrusive bodies. Since they are different in genesis and scale, the rock masses are different in features and mechanical intensities. Based on the combination of rock structure bodies, 15 basic modes of deformation and failure of rock slope are systematically summarized. The deformation and failure of rock masses actually result from the recombination and rearrangement of these rock bodies. There are 11 types of rock mass structures and various deformation and failure of bank slopes are present in the reservoir area of the Three Gorge Project.

    Dongzigou Ag deposit and Jianbaoshan Au deposit are hosted in the sandstone of Middle-Proterozoic suberathem, which are developed from the proterozoic sediment metal source-rocks formed during the Meso-proterozoic volcanism and reworked by the Mesozoic tectono-magmatism during the formation of the metamorphic core complexes in Eastern Hebei. The Dongzigou Ag deposit has the characteristics of reformed strata-bound origin, the Jianbaoshan Au deposit, located in the detachment fault, is the alterated rock type. Both deposits have the similar wall-rock alteration, and show the same trace element behavior, and REE patterns. They are the results of the multi-stage tectono-magmatism in the environment of continental extension in Eastern Hebei region. Their mineralization depended on their wall rocks and relative location in metamorphic core complexs.

    Through field investigation, microscopic study, X-ray phase analysis and mineral infrared spectrum analysis, the authors determine the laumontitization had occurred widely in the Axi gold field. According to the development of laumontitization and its relationship to mineralization, authors reveal that the laumontitization appeared mainly at the top and periphery to ore-bodies. It befallen at the edge of the geothermal fluid system or happened in the late stage of geothermal fluid system evolution, hence can be assigned as an indicator to prospect for epithermal gold deposit. The fluid causing laumontitization in the Axi gold deposit is similar to those causing hot spring type gold deposit or in modern geothermal field.The fluidization of the Axi gold deposit happened in Carboniferous, showing the West Tianshan is a good district for epithermal gold mineralization and preservation. So west Tianshan is prospecting for exploring epithermal gold deposit.

    In order to get small molecular G-protein Rab3a, which serves to further investigate the interaction between Rab3a and other proteins, we amplified the full coding region of Rab3a cDNA by polymerase chain reaction(PCR), using human placenta total cDNA as template. The PCR products were recovered from gel electrophoresis and cloned into BamHI/XhoI site of vector pYESTrp2. The result of sequencing indicated that Rab3a insertion fragment included its initiation and termination codons in 5′- and 3′-terminal, respectively. Compared with the referred Rab3a, the amplified Rab3a beard five nonsense nucleotide mutations, but the deduced amino acid sequence from the nucleotide sequence were completely the same as the referred Rab3a protein, which demonstrated that the cloned placenta Rab3a was suitable for further study.

    Paramecium caudatumwas first processed by DGD embedment and embedment-free technique and general technique for EM morphology. A perinuclear structure consisted of interacted filaments (we called lamina-like structure) was observed. Then using Western Blot assay, we found a lamin-like component band of 68kD protein in the three-step-fractionated cells. To investigate the distribution of the lamin-like protein in cells, a immunofluorescence experiment for in situ hybridization was designed using goat anti-lamin protein antibodies as the probes. The results revealed that the positive reactivity presented at different part of the cells. The perinuclear cross-actions were distinct, and cross-action with the oral apparatus and the cortex were also obtained.

    Based on the analysis of thermal contact metamorphic aureoles, granitoid interior structure, quartz axis fabric and strain characters in the different rock unites of Yuanshishan granitoid and its wall rocks, the emplacement mechanism of Yanshishan granitoid was studied. The magmatic explictite dynamic was advanced in light of regional stress and magma dynamic research. Those conclusion was synthesized to ascertain the emplacement mechanism-granitic magma ascended in dikes with the minimum critical width of the magma ascending channels about 2.21~3.88m and located in the core of Yindianshan dome with the passive style of dyke explictite; the later unite is a kind of multiple emplacement mechanism with the character of active emplacement of ballooning.

    The murine phage antibody library was amplified and then panned by human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) for four rounds. The last round enriched phage clones were used to reinfect E coli TG1 and 15 separate colonies were assayed by ELISA. The recombinant phages which were rescued from colony 12# showed the highest affinity to immobilized hCG. The Scfv gene was inserted into the reconstructed pET-21a(+) and expressed in E coli BL21(DE3). The dot blot hybridization verified that the ScFv was secreted to the medium.

    The origin and evolution of land plants was an important event in the history of earth life and has affected all other lives on the earth and global environment. During the past two decade, the new discoveries of fossil plants (microfossils and megafossils) from the mid-Ordovician through all Silurian to the lower Devonian improved knowledge of the origin of land plants, provided a time framework of the basal groups for the land plants and the early evolution diversity of vascular plants. Three new plant based epochs have been recognized. On the other hand, molecular sequence studies have provided insights into the phylogeny and early branches of land plants. A phylogenetic tree has been established by the joint of a study of comparative morphology and gene sequences. This paper summarizes recent advances and new knowledges, comments on the phylogenetic studies based on the cladistic analysis.

    Tree ring is a kind of natural archives, on which the isotopic analysis is important to study global climate and environmental change. The authors mainly provide a comprehensive introduction to the fractionation models of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen isotope in plants, their research techniques and the extract methods from cellulose. That results show isotopic tracer can record the message of climatic variation and has become a powerful tool for paleoclimate reconstruction and for the modern environment changing research. Especially studying on PAGES, the cellulose isotopic analyses of imbedded old tree ring have become the mainly quantitative means of environmental evolvement. In addition, China is a typical monsoon country, research in tree ring stable isotope seasonal variation can give us a lot of important information on that. Up to now, the research techniques and works on tree ring in our country are still in its earlier stage, and remain many limitations. It needs further accumulate basic research materials, intensify regional contrast and intercross studies on relative subjects.
