    A modified method for the estimation of gene copy number in genome is proposed. It based upon the size ratio between the cloned gene and its haploid genome. From the size fraction and the amount of genomic DNA used for analysis, the gene copy number could be estimated from the data of dot blot or Southern blot analysis. Using the procedure proposed by this study, the copy numbers of human α1-antitrypsin gene and rat RALRS-1 repetitive sequence were determined.

    The removal ability to TN, TP from polluted water in Lake Caohai by eight species submerged macrophytes including Potamogeton crispus, Vallisneria spiralis, Myriophyllum spicatum, Ceratophyllum demersum, Potamogeton pectinatus, Potamogeton maackianus, Chara sp., Edodea canadinsis were studiedin this paper. Results shows that each species has great ability to remove TN, TP. During the 12-day experiment period, the removal percentage on TN, TP is 87.7%, 81.4% respectively.The regression relation of TP concentration and time is put emphasis on in this paper. The formulation of the regression equations is y=a/ebx (a>0, b>0) , which suggests that TP concentration in water declined in negative exponent form with the time continuing.The relation of TP concentration and removal rate to TP is studied too. The v-TP equation of each species is given and their formulation is y=aebx (a>0, b>0), which shows that within the given TP concentration range (0.14--0.37 mg/L), the removal rate of each species increases with increasing TP concentration. Furthermore, the use of TP-t and v-TP curves for restoration of aquatic macrophytes is discussed.

    A series of europium complexes with 4-acyl substituted pyrazolones: Eu(L)3.2H2O, where L=1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-acetyl-5-pyrazolone (PMAP); henyl-3-methyl-4-propionyl-5-pyrazolone(PMPP); 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-isobutyryl-5-pyrazolone (PMIBP); 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-pivaloyl-5-pyrazolone (PMPVP) and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP), were synthesized and identified by elemental analysis. The complexes were characterized by FT-IR, UV-vis spectra, TG-DTA analysis and X-ray diffraction. The luminescences of the solid powder complexes were also studied. Results show that the fluorescence intensities of these complexes strongly depend on the different substituted 4-acyl groups.

    The geometry configurations of HFe(CO)+5 and Mn(CO)-5 are optimized with density functional method at LDA and NL/LDA approximation levels. The proton affinity EPA of Fe(CO)5 is estimated as 751.6kJ/mol from the results of NL/LDA. The EPA of Fe(CO)5 is in between those of HCN and NH3, which gives an explanation to the experimental facts that, on the one hand, Fe(CO)5 snatches a proton from H2CN+ conveniently, onthe other hand, it is impossible to transfer proton from NH+4 to Fe(CO)5. There is symmetry transformation of geometry configuration involving in the proton ionization reaction of HFe(CO)+5 ,i.e. from C4v point group symmetry of Fe(CO)5 in HFe(CO)+5 to D3h of free Fe(CO)5, which is similar to the geometry relaxation in proton ionization of isoelectronic HMn(CO)5. The calculated relaxation energy for the molecular fragment Fe(CO)5 is -59.78kJ/mol. Our investigation also shows that the backdonated π bonding,Fe→CO,is strengthened after ionization of H+ from HFe(CO)+5 ,leading to the shortening of the Fe--C bond length and lengthening of the C--O bond length; synchronously, the electron charge distributed on the Fe atom decreases, while negative charges on the C and O atoms increase. The Mulliken population analysis gives the same tendency, i.e. the F--C bond orders increase and the C--Obond orders decrease after ionization of H+ from HFe(CO)+5 .

    The carbondioxide gas fields are a kind of high economic nonhydrocarbon ones. It is very important to research origin of carbondioxide gas fields in theory and practice on exploration and development and utilization. The carbondioxide gas fields in Jiyang basin are researched in detail on the analysis of origin, geological conditions and tectonic background in this paper. On the basis of gas ingredients and carbon isotopes, the carbondioxide gas in Jiyang basin is from mantlevolcanic magma. According to the locations of carbondioxide gas fields, volcanics and faults, the carbondioxide gas fields are closely relative to the Middle and Late Neozoic volcanoes. The NW Shicun fault is the regional transporting path of carbondioxide gas. NE and nearly EW faults control the local reservoir structures. The Tanlu fault zone to the east of Jiyang basin may be the source of mantle magma with carbondioxide gas on the basis of tectonic background.

    The Zhijiazhuang skarn iron deposit is in Laiyuan County, Hebei Province and is now being mined in open pit. Biotite granite, porphyritic granite, alaskite and diorite porphry are discovered in the camp but only biotite granite is closely related to the mineralization. The altered wall rock is dolomite interbeded with chert stripes of the Mid-Proterozoic Gaoyuzhuang Formation. Along with the emplacement of biotite granite, the dolomite was thermally metamorphized to dolomitic marble, forsterite marble and periclase marble. The intrusive rocks underwent albitization. Four stages of contact metasomatism are noted. In the first stage, biotite granite was altered to calcic skarn which consisted mainly of diopsidic pyroxene, andradite and trace schorlomite, seyrigite, while the marbles were replaced by diopside, forsterite and minor spinel which comprised the magnesian skarn. The Th of inclusions in andradite>540℃;diopside in calcic skarn 450~520℃;diopside in magnesian skarn 370~420℃;During retrograde alteration, the calcic akarn was replaced by epidote with minor tremolite, phlogopite, chlorite and serpentine. In magnesisan skarn, chondrodite replaced forsterite, fine grained diopside and minor tremolite replaced diopside, then they all were replaced by phlogopite, chlorite and serpentine. Magnetite began to deposit after the formation of phlogopite and before serpentinization mainl y in exoskarn, followed by the deposition of ludwigite which was replaced later by szaibelyite. The decrepitation temperature of magnetite is 345℃; Afterwards, minor serpentine, calcite, chlorite and pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite were precipitated in the sulfide stage. Most of the sulfides are found in magnesian skarn adjacent to endoskarn. The Th of fluid inclusions in calcite of this stage is 250~300℃. In the final carbonate stage, minor calcite and aragonite filled in fissures, apophyllite grew in vugs or replaced early minerals, brucite replaced periclase. The size of exoskarn is much larger than that of endoskarn. Roughly the skarns are zoned with respect to diopside/andradite ratio in calcic skarn, diopside/serpentine ratio in magnesian skarn,the intensity of retro grade alteration and ore petrography. According to chemical composition of inclusions in diopside, the physiochemical conditions of the fluids are infered: salinity : 51.01% NaCleq proximal, 47.87% NaCleq distal; pressure: 23 MPa,fO2 about 1/1023 Pa, pH: 7.58.

    Both Calmodulin(CaM) and a Neo-Calcium Binding Protein(NCBP) were separated and purified from earthworm(Eisenia foetida) by phenyl-sepharose CL-4B hydrophobic chromatography and DEAE-F.F.ion exchange chromatography. Two proteins were shown to be homogeneous by SDS-PAGE, PAGE, and IEF. Molecular weight and pI of CaM and NCBP are 18.9 kD and 16kD, 3.6 and 4.3 respectively. Their peptide map is different. Both of thier N-terminus are Gly. C-terminus of CaM is Met. The electrophoretic mobility of earthworm CaM and NCBP effected by Ca2+ is similarly as that of the bovine brain CaM. Earthworm CaM can activate bovine heart cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase, NCBP has similar properties too. The Phe/Tyrratio is 8∶1, while that of NCBP is 7∶2. We can observe thier characterstic UV absorption peaks. A Comparison between the properties of earthworm CaM and NCBP indicates that they are similar to each other.

    The evolution of pests' resistance against transgenic plants with foreign toxic genes was simulated quantitatively by means of Artificial Life (AL). The results indicated that the pests became transgenic- plant-resistant in a pretty short time if just one toxic gene was transferred into the plants, and that the evolution rate was quite lower, sometimes was zero, if 3 or more toxic genes were transferred. Therefore, multi-toxic-gene transferred into, and expressing in the plants was beneficial for preventing or delaying the pasts becoming transgenic-plant-resistant.

    In classical kinetics, the enzymatic reaction takes place in homogeneous phase and the rate constant has not any time dependence. However, the reactants are spatially constrained on the microscopic level. The catalytic reaction carries out in the heterogeneous environment and is diffusionlimited. Using fractal theory in enzyme kinetics, series of fractal equations for steady-state enzyme catalysis are given. The final result is following:
    ve =ke2[ES]= Vm[S]/([S]+Km)*t(ds/2)-1?
    From this equation, the ds can be given using computer calculation, it is the spectral dimension of enzyme structure which reflects the characterization of enzyme surface. D which is the fractal dimension of the enzyme surface could be obtained by ds. To some extent, it displays different sensibility and selectivity of enzyme to different substrates or products. So the fractal theory provides a new method to enzyme study.

    The present experiments have studied the influence of prediction and control of electric shocks on certain aspects of immune function, and the possible intermediate role of glucocorticoid hormones. After two sessions of inescapable footshocks, the reactivity of splenocytes to concanavalin A was reduced by one third. This effect of immunosuppression was not observed when each shock was preceded by a warning stimulus, even though the adrenocortical response was the same in both conditions. The results from the experiment 2 show that rats receiving inescapable footshocks displayed a reduced reactivity of splenocytes to lectins whereas rats with escapable footshocks had a reduced reactivity to sheep erythrocytes. However,no difference was observed in the corticosterone or prolactin responses between the two groups. These data further support the importance of psychological factors on stress-induced changes in immune functions. Furthermore, they demonstrate that certain aspects of the immune system are differentially affected by behavioral factors and the results argue against a major role for the adrenocortical system in mediating these changes.

    289 high school students and one of their parents (father or mother)were investigated by the Irrational Beliefs Scale(IBS) created according to the theory of Rational-Emotive Therapy. Four kinds of irrational beliefs are measured in the scale: overgeneralization, seeking for approval, demandingness towards oneself and demandingness towards others. The results indicated that the children's beliefs scores were correlated significantly with their parents'(r=0.2889, P<0.001). Further, no significant correlation was found between the fathers' scores and the sons', and significant correlation was only found between the fathers and the daughters on the total score, while the mothers' score on the belief of demandingness towards oneself correlated significantly with the sons', and significant correlations on the total score and scores on the beliefs of demandingness towards oneself and towards others were found between the mothers and the daughters. The parents' occupation and education level have no significant influence on the children's beliefs. The reasons and the impact ways of the parental influence were discussed.

    A definition of biological essential element was proposed. Their origin and function in human body were discussed. An excellent strain S1 of Tetrahymena, a kind of ciliates, has been used in this study to observe both stimulation or nutritious and toxic inhibition effects of elements located in s block, p block, d block, and f block in the periodic table, some regularity between the biological effects of these elements and their positions in the periodic table has been obtained. It is shown that a “spectrum of biological element equilibrium”, which exists in organism, can be exhibited in the periodic table designed in the three-dimensional space, if the abundance of biological elements or/and their bioavailability is used as the third z axis, a vertical line to the plane of the periodic table, and then the biological element spectrum shows that the exchanges of matter and energy between organism and surface environment of the earth have been reached the dynamic equilibrium state. It seems that not only physical and chemical properties of different elements and their compounds can be shown in the developed periodic table, but also their biological properties to a certain extent.
