Adaptive Controller for Active Queue Management

Abstract: Proportional-Integral(PI) control is a successful active queue management(AQM)scheme in dealing with relatively smooth traffic. However, in the face of changeful traffic, the performance of such a fixed PI controller degrades. A remedy to this problem: adaptive PI controller is proposed. By estimating the active flow number multiplexed on the congested link, the controller adjusts its parameters to achieve a much expeditious response speed in tracking the change of load condition in the network. Simulation results show an improvement in performance.

摘要: 提出一种自适应的控制器以更好地实现通信网络中的拥塞控制。该控制器通过估计网络链路中的“流”数来自动调节其参数,在网络流量变化比较剧烈的情况下也能取得比原PI控制器更好的控制效果。仿真结果验证了此方法的有效性。
