Study on Transmission of WDM Channels through a Cascade of EDFA's

波分复用信号在级联EDFA系统中的传输研究

Abstract: A novel computation model is presented for the analysis of transmission of many wavelength-division-multiplexed(WDM) channels through a cascade of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers(EDFA's). We find that 15 WDM channels can transmit across 100 EDFA's without equalization if fiber nonlinearities are not taken into account, and the number of the accommodated channels decreases with the transmission distance. The system performance is most sensitive to the link loss between EDFA's among all system parameters. The 980 nm pumping of EDFA provides a higher optical signal to noise ratio(SNR) than the 1480nm pumping.

摘要: 提出了一种新的分析级联EDFA系统的计算模型,并利用该模型分析了波分复用 (WDM)信号在级联EDFA系统中的传输过程。发现如果不考虑光纤非线性效应,15路0.5nm间隔的WM信号不经任何均衡可以传输经过100个EDFA。传输距离越长,可容纳的信道数目越少。在连接损耗、输入信号功率、泵浦功率等系统参数中,系统性能对EDFA之间的连接损耗最为敏感。从级联时的光信噪比来看,980nm泵浦比1480nm有利。
